At Journey Pediatrics, we want to share with you the heartfelt reasons behind our decision to focus on hunger initiatives and literacy in the beautiful state of New Mexico. These two critical issues have touched our hearts deeply, and we believe that addressing them is not just a responsibility but a calling.
New Mexico, with its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes, is home to a diverse and vibrant community. However, it is also a place where many families struggle to put food on their tables and provide their children with the resources they need to thrive academically. This stark reality has moved us to take action.
Our commitment to hunger initiatives stems from our belief that no child should ever go to bed hungry. We have witnessed the profound impact of food insecurity on a child’s physical and emotional well-being. By supporting local food banks and community programs, we aim to alleviate this hardship and provide nourishment to those who need it most.
Likewise, we are deeply dedicated to promoting literacy because we understand that education is the key to a brighter future. We have seen the transformative power of books in a child’s life, opening doors to knowledge, imagination, and endless possibilities. Through book drives, reading programs, and partnerships with local schools, we strive to ensure that every child in New Mexico has access to the books and educational resources they deserve.
At Journey Pediatrics, we believe that healthcare extends beyond the clinic walls. It encompasses the well-being of the entire community, and we are committed to being a beacon of hope and support. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of the children and families of New Mexico.
Thank you for your support and partnership in this meaningful journey. Together, we can create a brighter future for the children of New Mexico.
Feed New Mexico Kids is on a mission to eradicate childhood hunger in New Mexico.
Through donations of nutritious snackable food items that a child may open and eat on the spot, we aim to get weekend food to any child in NM who has need whether or not they have a home, a responsible adult in their lives, or are simply in a season where the family has fallen on hard times.
Journey Pediatrics is committed to combating childhood hunger and promoting nutritional awareness within the broader community.
Unfortunately, New Mexico holds a distressing position as a leader in childhood hunger, with a staggering 25% of its children living in food-insecure households. This troubling statistic is mirrored by the state’s dismal rankings in childhood well-being (48th in health and overall well-being) and education (50th), underscoring the imperative for comprehensive support and enhancement across multiple dimensions of children’s lives.
