We’ve been receiving a lot of calls from parents about measles in light of the outbreak in Lea County, southeastern New Mexico, and adjacent Gaines County, Texas. While measles is a serious and highly contagious disease, it is preventable with vaccination.
As of last week, measles has been confirmed in the greater Albuquerque Metro area. To help protect our community, the New Mexico Department of Health is offering MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccines at public health offices in several counties.
